I recently went to Open Road Honda with my fiancee and was completely shocked at how poor the customer service has become. I'd like to start by saying that both of our families have been longtime customers at the Open Road dealership group, and had been treated like celebrities. Our sales rep, Yong Shin, waffled between trying to buddy up to us, giving us a sob story about how he as a salesman and the dealership as a whole were going out on a limb for us and putting themselves at a financial hardship by giving us a $2000 incentive and we should be more grateful, to downright condescending and rude. When discussing damage done to my fiancee's car when someone hit it in a parking lot while we were shopping, Yong Shin began lecturing us on how we need to drive the car more carefully. Apparently he didn't grasp the concept of the vehicle being hit while parked at Shop Rite. I also did not appreciate that every time he gave us a figure for repairs to the damages, his estimate went up, working its way from $3000 up to $7000. Yong Shin also repeatedly told my fiancee that she should get a different job, which is not only rude and extremely presumptuous, but also none of his business! He was also very pushy about badgering us to write a good review for him on Google, to the extent that he thrust a printout with instructions on it in our faces and would not stop pressuring us until my fiancee wrote a positive review (since deleted) with him watching over her shoulder. We work very hard for our money, not to have a salesman at a car dealership berate us for being working class. Going to management was no use either, as the manager, Sri, was just as condescending as showed just as little common courtesy. This used to be a fine group of dealerships, but in recent years, they've taken a steep dive in the quality of their customer care. Unfortunately, they've lost mine and my fiancee's loyalty and business for life, and both our families have decided to do business elsewhere as a result. They lose out, and their competition gets to reap the benefits.
So we bought a new CR-V on 09-16-17. Our salesperson Phil was very courteous and so was Steve, the business manager. We had a short test drive on Route 1 and closed the deal pretty quick. The purchase included AW mats that were to be ordered and provided in 2-5 days. My husband visited them 3 times and got nothing. It's been a 60 days now, NO MATS!!! On top of that they still don't have our permanent registration plates!! My temp plates expired yesterday, as a result, I cannot drive my new car any more.
Yong Shin was professional and informative. He spent all the time I needed to make an informed decision about the car I was purchasing. He worked hard to give me every benefit and discount possible. No pressure sales and a perfect gentleman. I highly recommend him to anyone interested in buying a Honda. I give him a 5 star rating!!
PS: I do have service contract with them, I will update and share the experience then. I heard the service is pretty bad- but I'd give them a chance before forming an opinion on that.
Here's what I feel- courtesy and smiles stop when you sign on the dotted line. I think they sell you the car, then add on several service contracts that you'd pay for and then annoy you so much that you don't ever want to use their service!!
I truly did not know what I was missing in my car-buying experience until I stepped foot in the Open Road Honda exhibition floor room. Not only are the facilities immaculate and squeaky clean, but the genuinely helpful nature of every one of the employees is something that no one should go without when purchasing an automobile. Matt Klepper was extraordinary in the way that he treated my family and I, truly acting as somewhat of a Honda spirit guide as we journeyed on the highway of auto financing and model options. The selection that Matt showed us and the test drive were both amazing. I am so happy I went to Open Road Honda, and I would, without a doubt, recommend buying your next car here!
The GM always has a frowning expression and has a "no negativity" sign on his desk- now I know why would they need to put that up.
Recently purchased a CR-V here and I'm so glad we came! Decided to come after having a truly unpleasant experience at our local dealership. Lucky for us, we had the best experience here at Open Road Honda and its all thanks to our salesman, Angel. Thanks to him, we were able to leave same day with the exact car, trim, and color we were interested in. No lies, no BS, just great business. He was extremely helpful in setting all of the available features up even after the deal was signed and done. Never once felt rushed or pressured, as he truly took the time to make us comfortable, a rarity among dealerships now a days. It was truly a pleasant experience and I will definitely be recommending Angel and Open Road Honda to all my family and friends. Thanks so much Angel and thank you Open Road Honda!
